So, is the playoff dream over? It kind of feels that way, doesn’t it? After watching Andy Pettitte go down in 1.2 innings yesterday afternoon, there really isn’t much for this Yankee team to hang its hat on. I find that it’s best to avert your eyes away from the standings. Check around other parts of the sports section a little…for example, big news in hockey! The NY Rangers have signed two of the biggest free agent studs on the market, making you wonder to yourself if they will become a passion-less team like the Yanks (actually, I love the move of signing Scott Gomez and Chris “Captain America” Drury”… I just want to vent about the Yanks)…
There is more than half the season still to play, perhaps it’s best to not look at the standings for now. The glass half-full version of the Yankees season says that there is still time to get it going and make a run at the playoffs. A half-empty look acknowledges that the Yanks have time, but they already had a hot streak and then faded again. Abreu ain’t hittin’ again. Damon’s not healthy/hittin’ anymore…And now the Yankees best starter gets rocked.
Ugh. When does football training camp start?
