As the Yankees came back to the dugout after another long inning in the field, New York starter Phil Hughes made sure to thank them. The Yankees' powerful lineup scored more than enough runs to get Hughes his 16th win, on a warm night when he struggled through five long innings and New York beat the Oakland Athletics 9-3.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Jose Bautista hit his major league-leading 43rd homer during a 10-run sixth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays 13-5 on Tuesday night.

Mark Teixeira returned to the New York Yankees' lineup with a bang Monday night after missing a game with a bruised right thumb. The slugger singled, homered and doubled in his first three trips to the plate against Oakland. He scored all three times. Teixeira sat out Sunday against the Chicago White Sox.
