Derek Jeter has left a game against Baltimore after being hit by a pitch on the knuckles of his right hand. Jeter was hit by the first pitch from Orioles starter Jake Arrieta in the third inning Sunday. The New York Yankees captain was examined by team staff and went to first base. But in the fourth, he was lifted for pinch-hitter Francisco Cervelli.

One inning, 12 runs, 40 minutes and 70 pitches. Those were just some of the wild numbers in a record-setting start for the New York Yankees. Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher and the Yankees broke loose for 12 runs in the first inning Saturday night, setting a franchise mark en route to a 17-3 rout of the Baltimore Orioles that completed a painfully embarrassing sweep of their split doubleheader.

The New York Yankees set a franchise record for runs in the first inning, scoring 12 times against Baltimore in the second game of a day-night doubleheader Saturday. Nick Swisher homered and drove in three, following up his big game in the opener. Robinson Cano had a pair of RBI singles and the Yankees sent 16 batters to the plate in an offensive outburst that lasted 40 minutes.
