Alex Rodriguez used to be one of the most durable players in baseball, but those days seem long gone after a four-year stretch in which he hasn't played more than 138 regular-season games. In 2011, A-Rod only appeared in 99 games.
However, general manager Brian Cashman believes his third baseman is now fit.
"I don't think he's anything but 100 percent right now," Cashman said. "He's obviously had some problems. We feel we've corrected them. When he is healthy, he's one of the best players in the game. ... As far as we're concerned, his issues are resolved."
On the recommendation of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant, Rodriguez went to Germany in December to undergo a form of plasma-rich platelet therapy in his right knee and left shoulder.
