MLB institutes 7-day DL for concussions (AP)

A seven-day disabled list for concussions wouldn't have done Aaron Hill much good when the Toronto Blue Jays second baseman missed the final four months of 2008 with the injury. That didn't stop him from saying the move, and several other guidelines instituted by Major League Baseball on Tuesday, was another positive sign the sport is doing more and more to address concussions.

The Yankees had been riding a season-high eight-game winning streak while their star third baseman was on the disabled list with a nagging calf injury. They'd won 11 of their last 14 and pulled ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays by 2 1/2 games in the brutal AL East.

Wells, Hill hit homers, Blue Jays beat Yankees 6-3 (AP)

The way they've fared against the Blue Jays this season, the New York Yankees will hope to have a little cushion in the playoff race before returning to Toronto in late September. Vernon Wells and Aaron Hill homered and Toronto held on when Curtis Granderson flied out with the bases loaded Wednesday night to end the Blue Jays' 6-3 win over the Yankees.
