Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter is critical of Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter and Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein in a magazine interview. Yankees’ long balls give Phil Hughes his 10th win (AP)

Phil Hughes was angry. With the New York Yankees leading in the fifth inning, there was no way he was going to let Jose Reyes get the best of him again. Instead of going with his fastball one more time, the right-hander threw a looping curve that dropped Reyes to a knee as he swung through it for strike three.
