Yankees beat Orioles on Swisher’s HR (AP)
Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer off Koji Uehara in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday to give the New York Yankees a 3-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. With the Orioles closing in on their first three-game sweep in the Bronx since 1986, Alex Rodriguez opened the ninth with a single on the first pitch from Uehara (1-1).

Matusz wins 4th straight, leads O’s over Yanks 4-3 (AP)
Brian Matusz, Brian Roberts and Buck Showalter ended a frustrating stretch at Yankee Stadium for the revived Baltimore Orioles. Showalter tries new approach with downtrodden O’s (AP)
Corey Patterson had just been doubled off first base on a short fly to center. When he reached the top step of the Baltimore Orioles dugout, manager Buck Showalter was waiting for him. Teixeira out of Yankees lineup after birth of son (AP)
Mark Teixeira was not in the New York Yankees lineup Tuesday night and won't even be in Texas for the two-game set against the AL West-leading Rangers. Teixeira remained home in the New York area after his wife gave birth to the couple's third child earlier Tuesday. "Tex and Leigh had a baby boy today and we're all happy for him," manager Joe Girardi said.
