The year was 1999 and the Texas Rangers had a relatively unknown kid in the bullpen. He was undrafted, had only been in the Rangers organization for a year, but had begun to catch everyone's attention in 1998 and then continued to do so in the spring of 1999. The Rangers needed every solid bullpen arm they could find in 1999, specifically right-handed ones, but the Rangers chose for him to start the season at Oklahoma City. He only lasted a week in Triple-A before getting the call to the big leagues and at 26 years old, he really wasn't a kid, but was still a rookie.

New York Yankees Comeback Rips Heart Out of the Red Sox: A Fan’s Take (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

Things looked so good for the Boston Red Sox after six innings on Saturday. They led 9-1 and got a very strong start from an unexpected source, Felix Doubront. Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine then turned to the bullpen and everything went awry. Nick Swisher and Mark Teixeira led the offensive charge as the New York Yankees scored seven run in both the seventh and eighth innings. When the public flogging was completethe Yankees walked away with a 15-9 victory.

Beachy goes 6 for Braves against Yankees (AP)

Atlanta Braves starter Brandon Beachy turned out to be a dependable five-inning pitcher last season. In his rookie year, he started 25 games and went 7-3, but he chalked up only 141 2-3 innings. He became known for hitting the wall around the sixth inning and turning it over to the Braves' stellar bullpen.
