Thames powers Yankees past White Sox (AP)

CC Sabathia has picked up the Yankees several times this season with dominant performances on the mound. This time, New York's bruising lineup did most of the work. Sabathia became the majors' first 18-game winner, Marcus Thames hit two of New York's four homers and the Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox 12-9 on Saturday night.

Todd Jones: Albert Pujols better hitter than Alex Rodriguez (SportingNews.com)

With St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols hitting his 400th career homer and Alex Rodriguez having recently reached the 600-homer mark, now is a great time for a guy who served up a homer to each slugger to compare and contrast the two future Hall of Famers: Facing A-Rod Rodriguez did minimal damage against me in my career. He hit one homer, but it was a big one. It was a grand slam in extra innings when I was with the Boston Red Sox and he was with the Texas Rangers.

A-Rod hit in leg by ball during batting practice (AP)

Yankees star Alex Rodriguez was hit in the leg by Lance Berkman's sharp grounder during batting practice Saturday and was removed from the starting lineup against Boston. X-rays were negative and Rodriguez had a bruise on his lower left leg near the base of his shin. There was no immediate word on how long the All-Star third baseman would be sidelined.
