Still, former Tampa Bay Rays Matt Garza and Carlos Pena should respectively add depth to Chicago's starting rotation along with run production to the middle of the lineup. But none of that will matter if Carlos Marmol is not available as the closer to finish off close games. In fact, Marmol is the most indispensable player for the Cubs.

A.J. Burnett has been removed from the New York Yankees' game against Tampa Bay in the third inning because of cuts on his pitching hand. Burnett hit Evan Longoria with a pitch and gave up an RBI single to Carlos Pena to start the third. Yankees manager Joe Girardi and a trainer came out to check on Burnett, who was lifted for Dustin Moseley.
