Youkilis returns from disabled list (Yahoo! Sports)

The Boston Red Sox activated third baseman Kevin Youkilis from the 15-day disabled list in time for Friday's game against Texas. He started at third base and batted cleanup. Youkilis was sidelined for the minimum 15 days after dealing with a stiff back for nearly a week.

Miguel Cabrera plays 1st game since arrest (AP)

After almost two weeks of turmoil, Miguel Cabrera returned to where he's most comfortable: a baseball field. Cabrera played his first game following his arrest, going 0-for-2 with a walk as the Detroit Tigers' designated hitter Monday in a 6-2 win over the New York Yankees. Cabrera batted cleanup, his first appearance since his arrest on Feb.

Yankees activate Alex Rodriguez from disabled list (SportingNews.com)

On the disabled list since Aug. 21, Alex Rodriguez was in the New York Yankees’ lineup Sunday, but the Toronto Blue Jays spoiled his return. Rodriguez, who has not played in a full game since Aug. 15, was on the DL because of a strained left calf. Yankees manager Joe Girardi told ESPNNewYork before the game: “We feel it is healed and ready to go.” Rodriguez batted cleanup against the Blue Jays. He entered Sunday hitting .265 with 21 homers and 97 RBIs.

A-Rod back in Yankees’ starting lineup (AP)

Alex Rodriguez had a pair of hits and drove in a run in his return from the disabled list Sunday, but it wasn't enough to help the New York Yankees avoid a 7-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays that snapped their eight-game winning streak. Rodriguez grounded out his first two times up before two singles, including a groundball in which he beat out the throw to first.
