Morrow used his new cut fastball to win for the first time in six starts and Adam Lind backed him with a pair of solo homers in a 3-0 win Sunday. "I needed that one just to get my confidence back," Morrow said.

The Texas Rangers did a victory lap, sharing the moment with their frenzied fans. They sprayed each other with ginger ale on the field to involve the AL championship series MVP in the celebration, and doused their manager with the contents of a water cooler. Fireworks and confetti filled the Texas sky.

Yankees’ Burnett gets ghoulish before ALCS start (AP)

Brett Gardner has the confidence many New York Yankees fans lack. With the Yankees trailing Texas 2-1 in the AL championship series following an 8-0 loss, A.J. Burnett starts Game 4 Tuesday night trying to get New York back to even. Remember Burnett? He last pitched Oct. 2 and was banished to the bullpen for the first-round series against Minnesota.

Yanks lose to Boston 7-6 in 10, split doubleheader (AP)

Eric Patterson singled home the winning run in the 10th inning, giving the Boston Red Sox a 7-6 victory Saturday night and a doubleheader split that dropped the New York Yankees into a first-place tie in the AL East. New York and Tampa Bay are both 95-66 with one game remaining in the regular season.

Upton keys Rays’ 7-run inning in win over Yanks (AP)

B.J. Upton and the Tampa Bay Rays knocked around CC Sabathia, took a few lumps of their own and left the Bronx with the confidence -- and schedule -- that could carry them to an AL East title. Upton and Carl Crawford each drove in two runs in a seven-run sixth inning, and David Price beat Sabathia in their much-anticipated rematch to lead Tampa Bay past the New York Yankees 10-3 Thursday night.
