Granderson has hit in return from elbow injury (AP)

The New York Yankees got good news about two injured outfielders. Curtis Granderson went 1 for 4 after missing two games because of right elbow soreness but the Yankees lost 4-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night. "Curtis was great," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. Granderson, the designated hitter, singled in the third.

Curtis Granderson looks around the clubhouse and sees superstars all around him. It's enough motivation. On a team that features Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano, Granderson was the New York Yankees' best hitter last year, leading the team in most major categories, including homers (41) and RBIs (119).

Weiland looks sharp as Astros top Yankees 4-3 (AP)

Kyle Weiland made a good first impression with his new boss. Weiland threw four hitless innings Monday night as the Houston Astros beat the New York Yankees 4-3. With new Astros owner Jim Crane in attendance at his first spring training game, Weiland induced nine ground-ball outs. He worked out of a two-on, two-outs jam in the third by coaxing Curtis Granderson into a grounder.

Paplebon perfect in Phils debut but Yanks win 8-5 (AP)

Curtis Granderson and most every hitter at Bright House Field could tell this would be a fun day. Granderson homered and doubled as the New York Yankees won their exhibition opener, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 8-5 Saturday. Granderson, who hit a team-high 41 home runs last season to go alongside an American League-best 119 RBIs, said this homer was aided by the wind.
