Phillies’ tough decisions start with Rollins (Yahoo! Sports)

The longest-tenured pitcher on a pitching-rich team, Ryan Madson thought about whether it would be his last time he would jog in from the home bullpen at Citizens Bank Park. Brad Lidge stood red-eyed and shocked in front of his locker stall.

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi made one of those decisions in Friday night's three-game series opener vs. the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park that could have given his harshest critics every fathomable reason to rake him over the coals.

Fan perspective: Who should be the backup catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers? (Associated Content)

As spring training enters its final week, the Milwaukee Brewers still have some decisions to make regarding their bench. One of the roster spots still up for grabs is the backup catcher slot behind starter Jonathan Lucroy. Last season's backup catcher, George Kottaras, is up against veteran Wil Nieves, who was signed as a free agent over the winter. Nieves played for the Washington Nationals in 2010. Both players have had a good spring, which makes the choice a little more difficult for manager Ron Roenicke.

In reality, those in-game decisions are probably the easiest part of his job. He also has to deal with the media everyday, figure out a way to get 25 different personalities pulling in the same direction, and sometimes dole out punishments to players like a parent does a child.
