Red Sox Struggles Keep Yankees in AL East Lead (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
Three consecutive losses--two of the walk-off variety--have somehow not cost the New York Yankees a portion of their 2.5-game lead in the AL East over the Boston Red Sox. Tampa Bays Rays starter Wade Davis went the distance vs.

The New York Yankees were on the verge of leaving Boston with the division lead and a chance to salvage what had been a lost season against the Red Sox. Then Mariano Rivera blew a save in the ninth inning, and David Ortiz started another rally in the 10th to give Boston a 3-2 victory and put the Red Sox back on top of the AL East.

Yanks lose to Boston 7-6 in 10, split doubleheader (AP)
Eric Patterson singled home the winning run in the 10th inning, giving the Boston Red Sox a 7-6 victory Saturday night and a doubleheader split that dropped the New York Yankees into a first-place tie in the AL East. New York and Tampa Bay are both 95-66 with one game remaining in the regular season.

Thames powers Yankees past White Sox (AP)
CC Sabathia has picked up the Yankees several times this season with dominant performances on the mound. This time, New York's bruising lineup did most of the work. Sabathia became the majors' first 18-game winner, Marcus Thames hit two of New York's four homers and the Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox 12-9 on Saturday night.
