Teixeira homers twice, Yankees rout Texas 12-4 (AP)

Mark Teixeira was inspired to be a switch-hitter watching Eddie Murray with the Baltimore Orioles. Now, he's connected to the Hall of Famer in the record book. Teixeira hit two-run drives from each side of the plate in the New York Yankees' 12-4 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night, the 11th time he's homered as a lefty and righty in the same game.

Jorge Posada recently was in the headlines during the New York Yankees' six-game losing streak. A-Rod was something like 9 for 59, Derek Jeter was hitting around .260 with little production, and both were upstaged by the 39-year-old former catcher. MLB notebook: Killebrew entering hospice facility (Yahoo! Sports)

Baseball Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew released a statement Friday saying that he was moving to a hospice facility as the last act in a losing battle with esophageal cancer. Killebrew, 74, was diagnosed with the disease in December.

Alex Rodriguez hits 21st career slam (AP)

Alex Rodriguez has tied Manny Ramirez for second place on the career list with his 21st grand slam. Rodriguez connected in the third inning against Oakland All-Star Trevor Cahill on Tuesday night. It was Rodriguez's third slam of the season. He needs two more to tie Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig for the most ever.

Hall of Famer "Wee" Willie Keeler's diary from the 1896 Temple Cup Series -- a precursor to the World Series -- is part of SCP Auctions' online sports memorabilia sale that runs through June 10. Keeler -- famous for the phrase, "Hit 'em where they ain't." -- helped the Baltimore Orioles sweep the Cleveland Spiders in the 1896 series.
