Lance Berkman of the St. Louis Cardinals and Jacoby Ellsbury of the Boston Red Sox are baseball's comeback players of the year. Ellsbury played just 18 games in 2010 because of injuries. The outfielder posted career highs in nearly every offensive category this season to earn the American League honor.

Berkman hits slam to spark Cards over D’backs 15-5 (AP)

Lance Berkman hit a grand slam and drove in five runs, and the St. Louis Cardinals routed the Arizona Diamondbacks 15-5 on Wednesday night. Skip Schumaker also homered, Albert Pujols was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Cody Rasmus and Gerald Laird each had three hits for the Cardinals, who got their first series win this season.

Being a St. Louis Cardinals fan all my life, I always dreaded when Lance Berkman came to the plate with the Houston Astros. He was always one tough out to get. Now, Berkman is playing for my Cardinals. His first day as a Redbird went very well, in his first spring training game. Monday, Feb. 28 In his first at bat, he hit a home run off Florida Marlins starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez. In his second at bat in the fourth inning, he hit a single off of Adalberto Mendez.

Rollins ready to roll atop Phils lineup for Game 6 (AP)

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins was batting leadoff for Game 6 of the NL championship series Saturday night after losing his regular spot in the postseason. Manager Charlie Manuel moved Shane Victorino, who had been hitting first, to the sixth spot. When Rollins, the 2007 NL MVP, is on his game, the Phillies are hard to stop.

Whoops! Berkman falls at 1B in place of Teixeira (AP)

Lance Berkman lay flat on his back on the warning track behind first base as a hushed Yankee Stadium crowd watched nervously. Berkman thought he hit his head in the fourth inning of Game 5 of the AL championship series. Everyone else was worried that the New York Yankees lost another first baseman Wednesday, a day after Gold Glover Mark Teixeira went down with a strained right hamstring.
