Beckett shuts down Yanks to lift BoSox to 4-0 win (AP)
The Red Sox's horrible start to the season didn't put pressure on Josh Beckett to pitch one of the best games of his career. He did anyway. Beckett allowed two singles and one walk and struck out 10 in eight innings, a rare strong outing by a Boston starter that led to a 4-0 win over the New York Yankees on Sunday night.

Police: Red Sox-Yankees rivalry led to stabbing (AP)
Police say a New Hampshire man has been stabbed in a bar fight over the New York Yankees-Boston Red Sox rivalry. Police in the Connecticut shoreline town Branford arrested New Haven resident John Mayor on Saturday night. They say he stabbed Nashua, N.H., resident Monte Freire. Police say Freire was stabbed in the neck with a knife and is hospitalized in critical condition.

A pitching duel one night, and a slugfest the next. The race for the AL East title is turning into an entertaining show.
