All-Yankees Team of My Lifetime: Fan Opinion (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

When building an all-New York Yankees team, how can I choose just one player at each position? Think about it: Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson for right field; Mickey Mantle and Joe DiMaggio for centerfield; Lou Gehrig, Chris Chambliss, Don Mattingly at first; Bill Dickey and Yogi...

Lou Gehrig jersey purchased for $329,000 (AP)

FILE - In this Feb. 26, 2009 file photo, New York Yankees principal owner George Steinbrenner talks on the phone in the owner's box during a spring training baseball game in Tampa, Fla. Late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, seeking a pardon for his conviction over an illegal corporate campaign contribution to President Richard Nixon, blamed the donation on bad advice from his lawyers, according to his FBI file, part of which was released Monday.

A Lou Gehrig jersey he wore during a road game in 1938 has been purchased by SCP Auctions for $329,000. Company spokeswoman Liz McCollum said Monday that the jersey, from Gehrig's final full season with the New York Yankees, was bought on behalf of a private buyer it did not identify.

Teixeira, who has played for the Rangers, Braves, Angels and Yanks in his eight Major League Baseball seasons, has few peers, past or present, with the glove. Only this aspect of his game makes any comparison between which is the better of the two even remotely arguable among my fellow Yankee fans.
