Cleveland Indians’ Derek Lowe Receives New 2004 World Series Ring from Boston Red Sox: A Fan’s Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

As a fan of any Major League Baseball team, in my case the Cleveland Indians, it is often hard to put your mind into that of a player. My loyalty, as it has been since a child, has been with one team, regardless of the player or players on the roster.

Andy Pettitte Returns to New York Yankees at Age 39: Fan Reaction (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

Back in the early 1990s, David Letterman embarked on a semi-serious campaign to pitch an inning (at least) for a major league baseball team. Letterman, who was in his mid-forties at the time, made the argument that he wasn't old in baseball terms, because he had spent the previous twenty years on television rather than throwing baseballs, so he had a lot of pitches left in his arm. As I move through the decades of my own life, I've always found comfort in Letterman's premise because my arm has been "resting" for years, too. ...

Dodgers supersub Hairston put on disabled list (Reuters)

(Reuters) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed their supersub utility player Jerry Hairston Jr. on the 15-day disabled list because of a left hamstring strain, the Major League Baseball team said on Friday. Top Ten Outfielders in MLB Right Now (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

The 2012 Major League Baseball season has seen some incredible individual feats, the latest of which was a four-home run, eight-RBI performance by Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton. In terms of the best players in the game, Hamilton and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp would likely be at the top of most people's list. In any event, in my opinion, many of baseball's best players are outfielders, just like the aforementioned pair. Thus, I chose to put together my list of the top ten outfielders in MLB right now, with my choices being listed below. ...

Twins Forgetting Fundamentals: A Fan’s Take (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

Minnesota Twins fans did not see this coming. With Joe Mauer finally healthy and Justin Morneau making his long-awaited return to the roster, Minnesotans believed that the team might be poised to make another run at the American League Central Division. Now, the team sits at the bottom of baseball. Several rankings have them listed as the worst team in all of Major League Baseball, and the team's poor record puts them even below the lowly Kansas City Royals.

Fan’s View: What If Mariano Rivera Had Pitched for the New York Mets? (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

My disdain for the New York Yankees is no secret, but my respect and admiration for Mariano Rivera transcends my rooting interests. With 608 career saves, he is -- was? -- the greatest closer in the history of Major League Baseball. Sadly, Rivera's decorated career, which includes 12 All-Star appearances and five World Series rings, may be in jeopardy following a freak accident in Kansas City on Thursday, April 3.
