After a recent game involving his Class-A Tampa Yankees, Sojo had his most unique guest. Sitting on the couch as he entered his office was a raccoon.

Steinbrenner remembered 1 year after his death (AP)

Former New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner was remembered Wednesday night before a minor league game on the first anniversary of his death. A short message was read over the public address system and a moment of silence was observed before the Tampa Yankees hosted the Palm Beach Cardinals at Steinbrenner Field.

NY Daily News cartoonist Bill Gallo dies (AP)

Bill Gallo, a cartoonist and columnist for the New York Daily News, whose playful characters included depicting the blustering New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner in a spiked Prussian military helmet, has died. He was 88. Gallo, who worked for the paper for seven decades, died Tuesday from complications of pneumonia at White Plains Hospital, according to the Daily News.

The New York Yankees have put a statue of former owner George Steinbrenner at the team's spring training complex. The 600-pound, life-size bronze statue was put on a marble stand Friday at the entrance of the ballpark named for Steinbrenner, who died at 80 in July. The 6-foot statue, on a 3-foot granite pedestal, is identical to one in the lobby of new Yankee Stadium.
