Rick Porcello pitched a couple balls over the middle of the plate, and the New York Yankees took advantage. Derek Jeter drilled one of Porcello's miscues for a two-run double in the third inning, and Curtis Granderson crushed another for an RBI double in the fifth. New York took control early and routed the Detroit Tigers 10-1 Tuesday night to even their AL division series at two games apiece.

Matusz’s future not rosy after getting pounded (AP)

Brian Matusz's immediate future doesn't appear to be particularly rosy. The Baltimore Orioles pitcher lasted just 1 1-3 innings and 46 pitches against the New York Yankees on Thursday, allowing five runs, five hits and two walks. His ERA swelled to 9.84. But it was the first time in half a season he didn't lose.

Jeter, Sabathia lead Yankees to sweep of Blue Jays (AP)

No matter how many pitches CC Sabathia throws, his spot is secure atop the Yankees' rotation. Turns out, all five guys behind him will get another start as well. Sabathia earned his 19th win, Derek Jeter tied a career high with five RBIs and New York polished off a three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays with a 9-3 victory Sunday.

Sabathia finally solves Red Sox and Yankees win (AP)

CC Sabathia finally snapped out of his Red Sox funk, and it took an extra effort to do it. The big Yankees left-hander struck out 10 on Tuesday night, throwing a season-high 128 pitches in six innings to beat Boston for the first time in five tries and lead New York to a 5-2 victory. The Yankees improved to 3-13 this season against the Red Sox, who still lead the AL East by one-half game.
