Book looks at Rivera and rest of Yankees bullpen (AP)

"Bullpen Diaries: Mariano Rivera, Bronx Dreams, Pinstripe Legends, and the Future of the New York Yankees" (Harper), by Charley Rosen: Forgive New York Yankees fans if they get nervous when one of the team's relievers takes the mound. The 41-year-old lights-out closer, Mariano Rivera, appears to defy time with every cutter he throws for a strike.

Burnett pitches into 7th, A-Rod homers for Yanks (AP)

A.J. Burnett didn't have an explanation for why he's always had success in April with the Yankees. He does know why everything was working Wednesday night. "If they come out swinging the bats like that -- I got a four-run lead -- I can just take a breath and go at it," Burnett said. Burnett remained undefeated in April with the Yankees by pitching effectively into the seventh...

Can Dallas/Fort Worth become a baseball town? (Associated Content)

I've lived in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex for over 30 years now and I remember growing up that the Dallas Cowboys were the "only" sport in town. The Mavericks and Rangers didn't get any respect because they were the losers.

Fan’s take: A ‘Boston Tea Party’ in Texas (Associated Content)

The Texas Rangers staged their own version of the "Boston Tea Party" during their three-game homestand against the Boston Red Sox -- and in the process sent a quick, but small, statement to the rest of the American League.

Showalter’s 1st camp with O’s deemed a success (AP)

The Baltimore Orioles completed their first camp under Buck Showalter with a newfound appreciation for a gritty baseball manager whose reputation as a no-nonsense drill sergeant proved to be significantly overstated. Sure, the Orioles covered the fundamentals. Yes, they worked hard, for some even on what was supposed to be the only "off day" of the six-week camp.

A-Rod drives in 15th run with bases-loaded walk (AP)

Alex Rodriguez ended his strong spring training with a patient at-bat that resulted in another RBI. Rodriguez drove in his 15th run of the exhibition season with a base-loaded walk, Freddy Garcia allowed one run in 4 2-3 innings and the New York Yankees beat the Detroit Tigers 2-1 on Tuesday. "Alex's spring was unbelievable, there's no other way to really describe it," Yankees...

Fan perspective: Reds would be rocking even without Rolen (Associated Content)

Once or twice each season I drive down I-71 from my home in Cincinnati to see the Cincinnati Reds Triple-A affiliate in Louisville. Nearly seven years ago, I went with the sole purpose of seeing the future heart of the Cincinnati batting order. I had seen him several seasons before with the A-level Dayton Dragons, where he first exhibited the power of a "can't miss" major leaguer. He indeed reached the Majors, but the ones who did miss might have been the Reds.

Fan perspective: Will 2011 be another rebuilding year for the Cleveland Indians? (Associated Content)

I hear time and time again that being a fan of the Cleveland Indians is a waste of my time. I hear the current ownership of the team does not care about making the team a contender. I am told the best thing I can do is boycott the Indians until the team is sold to an owner who can afford to bring big name players in to win championships. All opinions are valid in their own right, I just happen not to agree with any of them. Do I get frustrated because I am constantly told this is a "rebuilding" year?

Fan perspective: The Yankees’ Manny Banuelos could be this year’s ‘feel good’ find (Associated Content)

It's difficult to find a "feel good, rookie-makes-the-bigs" story when you cover the New York Yankees. They remain my favorite team for many reasons, but even I recognize some of their drawbacks. Mickey Mantle may have started with the team as a rookie in 1951 to become the Hall of Fame player he was. But in 2011, either general manager Brian Cashman or manager Joe Girardi would have vetoed the Okie and signed a former outstanding player for millions.

Yanks’ A-Rod homers again, Teixeira hits his first (AP)

Alex Rodriguez is having fun, the same kind of fun he had two seasons ago. Rodriguez and Mark Teixeira hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning and CC Sabathia was sharp, leading the New York Yankees to an 8-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday. "We have a great group of guys. I get the feeling in here like we did in '09," Rodriguez said.
