Infielder Ramiro Pena was placed on the 15-day disabled list by the New York Yankees on Monday after undergoing an appendectomy. The surgery took place earlier Monday. The Yankees have recalled infielder Brandon Laird from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
