Rangers manager Ron Washington wanted outfielder Nelson Cruz to relax. Nothing says relaxation like a six-RBI game. Mired in a 4-for-27 slump, Cruz was dropped to the No.7 spot in the lineup for the first time this season as the Rangers' opened a big three-game series with Los...

Austin Kearns hit his first homer in 105 at-bats this season, a stunning three-run shot in the seventh inning off New York's A.J. Burnett, to send the Cleveland Indians to a 6-3 win and spoil All-Star Derek Jeter's return to the Yankees' lineup Monday night. Fan’s view: The 5 best managers in Major League Baseball (Associated Content)

As fans we have all, at one time or another, thought we could do a better job than the guy who manages our favorite team. We yell at the TV when we feel he has left the starting pitcher in too long, or when he isn't sitting the guy who is in an 0-for-20 slump. In reality, those in-game decisions are probably the easiest part of his job. He also has to deal with the media everyday, figure out a way to get 25 different personalities pulling in the same direction, and sometimes dole out punishments to players like a parent does a child.
