The school district's board recently approved a committee's recommendation that Kalamazoo Central's field be named Derek Jeter Field. MLB receives pitcher Colon’s medical records (AP)

Major League Baseball has received medical records on Bartolo Colon's stem cell treatment. The New York Yankees pitcher had the treatment in the Dominican Republic in April 2010. Baseball spokesman Pat Courtney said the records were received Tuesday and it would take time for them to be reviewed. The records are in Spanish.

Ex-NY governor pays $62K fine over Yankees tickets (AP)

Former New York Gov. David Paterson has paid $62,124 to settle his fine from the state ethics board over free Yankees tickets he obtained for the 2009 World Series. The board's spokesman, Walter Ayres, confirms that the check was received Thursday. The state Public Integrity Commission had found the Democrat violated ethics laws in obtaining the tickets.

Former major leaguer Oscar Azocar, a free-swinging outfielder when he debuted for the New York Yankees in 1990, died Monday. He was 45. The native Venezuelan died at a hospital in Valencia, said Diogenes Nazar, press spokesman for one of Azocar's former teams, the Navegantes del Magallanes. Azocar hit .226 with five home runs and 36 RBIs in a three-year career.
