Boston Red Sox Need Strong 2012 Season from Josh Beckett: Fan Opinion (Yahoo! Contributor Network)

Josh Beckett, who had an impressive season last year, is expected to be the Boston Red Sox ace starting pitcher in 2012. The 31-year-old pitcher does have the career experience to be a top tier pitcher and All-Star, as he is a three-time All-Star. If the Red Sox are to compete this season with other teams that are likely to play in the playoffs, including the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers, the Red Sox will need another stellar season from Beckett. However, the question is: Will Beckett be able to continue his great success that he had in the 2011 MLB season?

Vladimir Guerrero wants to DH for Yankees ()

The New York Yankees are still looking to unload starting pitcher A.J. Burnett, which would create some financial breathing room to sign a DH along with Eric Chavez. The word has been that the candidates for the DH spot have been free agents Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and Raul Ibanez. Well, throw another name into the hat. It isn't clear how much interest the Yanks have, but 37-year-old Vladimir Guerrero, who spent last season batting .290 and hitting 13 homers for the Baltimore Orioles, "has made it known to the Yankees that he wants their DH spot ," according to ESPN. The way the site sees it, though, Ibanez is "still the frontrunner" for the position. Ibanez batted .245 with 20 homers while playing left field for the Philadelphia Phillies last season.   Let the rumors come to you. Follow Scoop du Jour on Twitter or Facebook .
