Right off the bat, I want to make it clear that I have no intention of denigrating Willie Randolph misremembered, as former a Yankee who was in no manner controversial during times when turmoil often swirled about the club. It is simply that I thought I knew plenty of facts about his career, but what I thought I knew was mostly incorrect. I recall Willie Randolph as a prolific run scorer, a consistent .300 hitter, a clutch batter in postseason play, and a Gold Glove-winning second baseman.
